"You mean you're not an elevator mechanic?" Malcolm asks. Fortunately, he isn't claustrophobic, so he's not feeling any immediate panic about the elevator being stuck. He buzzes on the elevator intercom to speak to an operator and find out about the situation. Apparently the power's out in the building and on the whole block.
